This little cutie turned 1 year old, and we celebrated this important milestone with a photo session in Newport Beach! It was only fitting that we hit the sand for this dude since his daddy is a big surfing fan.

You’d think that with a birthday at the end of May, it would be bright and sunny at the beach, but the weather in Orange County is WEIRD sometimes! We ended up rescheduling a few different times due to rain, wind, and other freezing cold weather. On the day we finally ended up doing the session, it was still pretty overcast, but at least it wasn’t cold (June Gloom, anyone???). Even though we were hoping for sun, I love the super soft and beautiful light that cloudy days gives us.

Kade was SO curious about everything going on around him. He was interested in the sand, the water, the seaweed, the letters… pretty much everything except for smiling for the camera. But, what do we expect; he’s only one year old! His mama knew how to get the smiles out of him though: she would run up and pretend to tickle him, then run away as fast as she could. Kade got the biggest kick out of that and would laugh so hard.

His sweet little smiles were enchanting! I mean, did you see the dimples on this kid? (He got those from his momma!). Even though it was a bit to chilly to get into the water, this dude was fascinated by the waves. He kept wanting to head down to the water and check it out! And who can blame him; the water was so clear and beautiful that day! It was almost like being on some tropical island!
