Outdoor Maternity Session in San Juan Capistrano | Alexa and Dustin
Alexa and Dustin reached out to me through Instagram, looking for a Maternity photographer near their home in San Juan Capistrano. We spoke back and forth for a while and I really tried to get a good idea of what they were looking for. Alexa was pregnant with their first baby, and they were both so excited to become parents.
As we were planning the session, I mentioned that one of my favorite things is when an expecting mama shows off her own personal style a little bit. Even though I absolutely adore a long, flowing maternity gown, there is something so much fun about showing who you are. Alexa mentioned overalls. YAAAASSSS! I basically forced her to stick to that plan, because I was so excited about that.
We started our session off with coffee in the Los Rios district in San Juan Capistrano, because it is just such a cool area. Even though the location is pretty packed, and the locals are not so welcoming of photographers, we found several places to get. some gorgeous and unique photos.
Next, we packed it up into our cars, and drove down the street to get some "open field" type photos. The sun was pretty incredible and gave us the most gorgeous light ever. This is why people love outdoor maternity photo shoots!! I mean, check out the way the sun is just beaming through the trees!
I loved getting to know both Alexa and Dustin during this session! They were both so sweet, super in love, and of course, totally photogenic: the best type of couple to have for a session ever! This photo below is definitely one of my favorites from the day. Her dress isn't even a maternity dress (no surprise, her bump was so tiny and perfect); she got it from Forever 21. People have the best luck finding gems there. I never do!!
While Alexa stepped away to change dresses partway through the field photos, Dustin and I got in a few headshots for him while we waited.
I was so honored to spend the afternoon all over San Juan Capistrano with these two!
And they have since welcomed their little boy into their lives and it's been so much fun to follow along with their journey as new parents. Congrats to Alexa and Dustin.
